SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
 

Arabia, in addition to insurance activities, plays a positive role on the social level. Despite the political turmoil and the economical instability facing Lebanon and the plummet in both social and cultural activities ; against all these odds, it is with assertiveness that Arabia put hand in hand with several cultural, social and humanitarian organizations and associations to keep culture and passion into our country’s heart to help build a prosperous future.

 
BAALBECK FESTIVAL

Great, Eminent, Majestic, are only few words to describe the temples of Baalbeck that humbly personify an assiduous culture and a strong heritage.

For 6 years in a row, Arabia partnered with Baalbeck International Festival Committee to host one of the most glamorous, opulent and inspiring annual event which quenches the thirst for culture in our turbulent environment.

 
ELEFTERIADES PRODUCTION

In collaboration with “Elefteriades Production” a distinguished name in the Entertainment Business, Arabia insurance participated in the launch of exceptional events that witnessed the performances of prominent artists from around the world.

 
OPERA NATIONAL DU LIBAN

In 2003 Arabia put hand in hand with the Australian Soprano “Penny Pavlakis” to help establish the first School for opera in Lebanon to recruit , teach, coach and create young local talents, and provide Lebanon with the opportunity to achieve cultural credibility.

“L’Opera National du Liban”, presented vibrant and exiting opera production in Lebanon and the M.E., with the participation of the finest singers and musicians, full of excitement and grandeur.

The year 2003 witnessed the successful production of several performances, such as:

- Carols by Candle lights at Casino du Liban
- Neapolitana Nights at Unesco Palace
- Opera in the Park at Martyr Square
- Mozart by Moonlight at Sursok Palace

 
AUB FUNDRAISING EVENTS

The regression of the Lebanese financial situation increased the financial burden carried by many families and students.

Having this in mind and to help alleviate this burden, Arabia partnered with the AUB Scholarship Fundraising Committee to gather financial resources to support the students in need of monetary aids, by co-sponsoring various events launched by AUB over the years.

Arabia also kept its sponsorship of Nabih Fares endowment funds for needy students at the American University of Beirut.

 
HUMANITARIAN ACTIVITIES

Arabia is active in helping humanitarian organizations and associations such as Sesobel, Al Younbouh, Dar Al Aytam Al Islamiyah, Oum Al Nour, and Children Cancer Center/ CCC, Al Amal Institute for the disabled.

 
“GLOBAL CLASSROOM” LAU MODEL UNITED NATIONS

Arabia salutes the youth and recognizes its major force in the contemporary world; a power that is backed up by a wide network of national, regional and world youth organization.

Arabia also recognizes and acknowledges the importance of the U.N. in maintaining international peace and security, safeguarding human rights, providing a mechanism for international law, promoting social and economic progress, improving living standards and fighting diseases. This sheds the lights on the importance of educating our youth, melting in one pot different backgrounds, teaching them to step in the shoes of ambassadors and thinkers and learn how to critically and constructively think, talk, behave and communicate.

Consequently, Arabia partnered with LAU to sponsor the 2008 Global Classroom - LAU Model United Nations conference, reinforcing by such confidence of the young generation, in an attempt to bring up and enhance their leadership skills and communication capabilities, thus forging a future generation of leaders … able imagine and realize love and peace.

 
YASA

The Youth Association for Social Awareness (YASA), registered in Lebanon in 1996, is an active organization specialized in injury prevention and safety promotion.

To reduce the Road Traffic Injuries problem in Lebanon YASA joined efforts with the Ministry of Interior and Municipality and the Parliamentarian Committee for Public Works and Transport, for the institution of a new driver examination that is free of bribe and in accordance with the international norms.

The major objective of this proposed initiative is to enact a decision from the Ministry of Interior that will reform the content of the theoretical driver examination based on the questions and answers Book that will be prepared by YASA in close collaboration with the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities. This will eventually assist in having more qualified drivers and hence safer driving on the Lebanese roads.

In brief, the proposed program will serve as a major component in the reform of the whole process of driver examinations in Lebanon.

Arabia Insurance was pleased to support Yasa’s initiative to the Reform of Driver Licenses in Lebanon by sponsoring this project with the collaboration of The Ministry of Interior & Municipalities and the support of AMIDEAST – US Aid.

            - Promotion of Road Safety and Children Safety

Arabia participated also in the Awareness campaign on road Safety and Children Safety,released by YASA during 2007 and 2008, to promote the awareness on Road safety. This is an ongoing collaboration as Arabia is very much committed to safety in all areas.
